The Love poem

L.O.V.E.
Love from your heart
Optional for love is optional but if you choose hate you will never use love
Very much people use love
Everything love is everything
Spread love. Keep it. Enjoy it. Love it. Love is in your heart. It fills your body with happiness. It makes you feel special and good. Love is what you need. Love is what you want.

I often talk about writing as a therapeutic modality and this was an amazing example of a young spirit expressing itself through words.
So… when was the last time YOU were overwhelmed by the magnitude of love?
The Love Letter
Dearest,
I love how you take care of yourself, how you make time to choose foods that are good for you and how committed you are to moving your body. I love how you don’t assign labels to yourself that would make you feel limited. You redefine yourself moment by moment and what some might interpret as crazy, I think of as brave. I love that you write, share and help others and that you do it both for free and as a job is a tremendous gift. I love that you’re open to receive gifts. I love how you laugh, deep belly laughs are my favorite. I love how much you adore your kids. I love your balancing acts of humility, faith and discipline. I love your brain, although I am still not fully sure how it works, it fascinates me. I love that with all your senses, you choose to observe the very best this human experience has to offer. I love you, being you because you could never be a better copy of someone else, or of yourself. I have always been by your side, even when you felt alone so believe me when I say, love you, as you’ve been, as you are and as you will be.
In love always,
Angel
Love letters. Who doesn’t long to receive the words of encouragement inside them? I decided to write out a list of things about myself that I appreciated, respected and loved and put it into LOVE LETTER format.
The love letter was once a coveted form of communication and quite frankly, I miss it! Do you? Why wait for someone else to say the words you’ve wanted or needed to hear? Write one, print it and mail it to yourself! Or make it a journal exercise.
Namaste
Why? Because I said so!
An affirmation is a declaration that something is true.
The power of writing our affirmations on a regular basis is a beautiful thing. Studies have shown that my subconscious mind only knows what I tell it.
So, when I write my affirmations, in present or past tense, it assumes I have already accomplished what I wrote. When I read my affirmations aloud, my left brain scours a lifetime of data to prove what I am reading, to be true. The result? I get to witness how I have already been living my dream and can now set more specific goals with even more belief. What an awesome feeling!
Writing affirmations without feelings will do little to promote change. Thoughts evoke feelings and then those feelings power additional thoughts. So, without feelings, we deny both the joy of the current experience as well as the power to shape our future.
If you cannot arrive at your affirmations from a TRUE place, try writing a letter to yourself from the future. Tell yourself where you are and remind yourself that the limitations you placed on on yourself were temporary. I cannot express enough HOW EFFECTIVE this technique can be in bringing relief of anxiety. Anything from love sickness to bankruptcy, realize that your future self has overcome. Your future self lives in the place of your dreams and that person is unlimited, wise and at peace. Feel free to ask questions or even ask your future self to write your affirmations!
BEING UNWRITTEN…
Yesterday, on the ride home, my daughter and I found ourselves singing out loud to Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. The lyrics are as follows:
I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
I love this song because we are unwritten and thus SO FULL of potential. It used to terrify me to be unwritten. This is different than not having goals or plans. This is being open to something… supernatural.
In some cultures, a story is like a spirit that finds it’s way inside the teller. It takes hold until it’s told. What an amazing concept. So many people seem to be living life based on someone else’s story. Media, family, belief systems, spouses, kids, teachers, all have roles to play in our lives but no one can write OUR story. It’s for us alone to discover and play.
As far as the past goes, we can’t change what’s happened but we can alter the way we perceive our experiences and give ourselves a boost into a positive future. Tools to help us uncover our story are probably in the millions. I love writing. Even when I jot random thoughts down I know they’re tidbits that I’ll use at a later date.
No matter what, I’m the protagonist of this experience and the end’s gonna be better than the beginning.
So what’s your story?
